I'm a short hair person, love spiky hair that looks wild but not scary or manly. I live in Ashboro and found Darlenes place while in town for a wedding. It is scary to go to someone new but I was way overdue and really needed to get a fresh cut before this wedding. After telling her what I wanted, she suggested a razor cut which did make me nervous but the end result was really coo! It was exactly what I wanted, a wild cut that still looked feminine. She's cut it three times for me now and I will let her cut it for me anytime I want it cut. Its a little bit of a drive but its worth it. No one else can use a razor like this woman can!

Darlene has been doing my hair for 4 years now. I have never had anyone who has been able to satisfy me with the cut and color every single time I go in.!!!I am a true brunette with lots of gray...I was coloring my hair myself..and one day I decided to let Darlene do it for me..she suggested putting a hint of red...I was very apprehensive..I have never had red hair..but she assured me that if I didn't like it..she would take it out...well let me just say...my hair is now RED...very RED...by my choice... and it has never looked better...I have never had more compliments in my life...and it will stay red from now on...and the cut is always PERFECT...Not many stylists know how to do a "true" razor cut...but Darlene sure does...I also need to add that I drive from the other side of Charlotte to get to this salon just because of the way I have always been treated and the service I receive..and I will continue to do so...the top salons in Charlotte don't hold a candle to Darlene and Magan!!!!

Personally I have been very happy with my hair since coming here. My name is Sara Carpenter. We moved to Concord in April of 2005 and I found Darlene at that time. It's been about 3 years and I have never had a complaint. I know my neighbor and her teen girls have been going for a few years longer than me. What I do know is that I myself have to make my appointments well ahead of time because she stays very busy. I find that fact alone to be a very positive indicator of her good work. She doesn't have any free time on her hands. It's true you can't please all people and I'm sure in the beauty business that has to be even more so. There have been two incidents when I have had to reschedule very last minute for various reasons. Both of these times Darlene was too busy and couldn't work me in with the short change of date that I needed but she saw that I got taken care of. She offered her other girls to take care of my needs. She professionally guided them as to how to do my hair and they too did a great job. I left content, but then again I always do. Darlene does high quality work and pays attention to every detail. She insists that her other girls do the same. The prices are very fair and you receive a great service.

I was thrilled with my recent visit to this hair salon. My appointment was with Darlene and she did a superb job with my difficult hair. The color did as I expected, it covered the gray and even had pretty highlites. I wasn't sure about getting the highlites since that was an avenue I had never ventured but its actually very becoming. My cut was perfect and she didn't try to talk me into cutting it real short even though I'm 30-something, other haircutters usually do try to get me to cut it short. I will definitely go back and have already made my next appointment. Megin cut my daughters hair and it looks really nice. I Was happy with the services we received and the price was very fair, I have paid more by far at other places.

My hair is in great condition now, but it didn't start out like that. I've dyed my own hair since I was 13. Bleached is more like it. I fried my hair for over 20 years. Thought I had to be a blonde since I was getting older especially, aging skin & all. Now I have brown hair. Me with brown hair! I never ever would have thought I'd look good in it but I do! When I first went to Darlene after the receptionist at my dentists office recommended her I thought she'd run away from the challenge. She didn't. We talked she made suggestions I put my faith in her and now I love my new hair! She had one of the other girls do my makeup and I went straight to the mall to get a new outfit before my husband and kids saw me. Needless to say, everyone was shocked. I felt like the star of my own show! Whatever you do, go visit Darlene and let her just talk to you. She's good. Really really really good.

Really great hair color and cuts from here. It seems to be the "it" place to go for hair color around here. My daughter and I both go here. I go to who ever can work me in but my daughter will only see Darlene, but then she is a very picky teenager. We are both happy and everyone else we know who goes here is very happy too.
I had the best experience here! Finally, after 2 years of searching! I moved from NY where I had a fabulous hairdresser and for the life of me I just couldn't find anyone here in Concord to color and cut my hair like I wanted. I found Darlene and twice she has done my hair and it's fabulous. She is wonderful at her work and I highly recommend her to anyone who is particular about their hair!

Perfect! I got exactly what I asked for. First time in years that I was happy when I left and liked how it was styled. I also liked that she knew how to use a razor and that made my hair do good too. I have to agree with all the positive posts on here. It's a great place to get your hair done.

She rocks!!!!! She listened to me, she followed thru with her claims to make me see myself in a whole new way with a new style and I actually have self confidence now that was hiding underneath my sad hair. I went shopping for new clothes and you wouldn't believe the difference in me before and after. I feel good about myself now. Thank you Darlene, I look forward to my salon visits now!

Perfect! Perfect! Perfect!: I could not be happier! After seeing a makeover show on TV, I knew I desperately needed an updated look. I went to Darlene and told her to update me. She talked to me and gave me suggestions and I just put myself in her hands 100%. I told her to just do whatever it took. I am thrilled with my new look! The cut and the color are perfect! She even taught me how to fix it like salon people do. PERFECT! I LOVE IT! I AM SO SO HAPPY! So happy that I already made my next appointment and I never have done that!

Love my new look!: Being a teacher is a very rewarding profession and I truly love every aspect of my job. I must say however that I let myself go a bit when it came to pampering myself. End result, I looked frumpy. I have wanted a new look for a long time. It hasn't seemed to do me any good in the past to ask for something new becuase I'd still end up being the same. Although I've never been totally ruined by any hairdresser I've gone to, I also wasn't "blown away". I always walked out with a shorter version of my life long short haircut. Today was different. I sat down and Ms. Darlene Walters went to work. I set no limits for her since I'm usually satisfied with the cut anywhere I go. Let me tell you - it has been a very long time since this teacher has been excited about her reflection in the mirror! I was truly blown away! She took my average short hair cut and turned it into a work of art. She colored my salt & pepper hair to a beautiful new color and kept it professional looking.She showed me how to style it and what a treat to find out it will be quick and simple to do. This took 10 - 15 years off my age. My co-workers were truly in awe. (Darlene if you read this, I'm sending quite a few new customers your way.)My husband never comments on my hair and today was no different. He didn't say a word, but he hasn't stopped smiling and walking around doing a "look-over". I feel like I did with the looks he gave me all those years ago when we first met!I can't be any more pleased with my hair than I am at this moment. Ms. Darlene has earned my trust and my loyal patronage from here on out.

happy and pleased: I'm hard to please but I am very happy with My hair. I got it died and hi lited and cut and I'm happy with it all. I'm always doing sumthin different to my hair so it makes me happy to know I can trust Darleen to do a good job. I want to look good at my work so now I feel a lot better.

Fabulous. Happy with my hair. :::Smiling:::: I'm sure most hair professionals would have considered me a disaster. I'm a college student and trying to save money my girlfriends & I decided we could color each others hair. When I went to this salon I was sure I'd be told it would have to be cut off. I had orange at the roots except where I missed some spots & it was still black. Some of my ends were still really blonde from previous hilites. I had spots, splotches, frizz.....I would have understood if they had told me they wouldn't touch my hair. But they didn't. Darlene looked at it and told me she could fix it. I am thrilled that this could be done. Now it's impossible to even tell that I had a home disaster just a few days ago. My color looks so natural and shiny. Words can not describe how impressed I am with the work that Darlene performed on my hair. Actually, it looks as though I have healthy hair now. I'll admit I was worried at first but I would have been anywhere. Darlene has completely earned my trust when it comes to hair. She knows her stuff, that's for sure! I will continue trying to save money while I'm still in school, but it won't be on my hair. I will indeed be staying with Darlene at A Finer Image from now on. My boyfriend went in for a haircut after he saw my hair and he's happy with her too. I gladly recommend her. :::Big Smile:::

I have been to many salons in three different states since we have moved a lot due to my husband's work. When we moved to Concord, NC, I found Darlene and it was my saving grace! My hair is naturally curly and I've always hated it. Darlene has a knack for cutting my curly hair and I no longer hate it. She taught me the importance of using the right products and conditioner. She showed me several different styling products to use so I can make the most of my curl or make an easier task out of smoothing it out to wear it straight. I've never had so much versatility with my hair before! I am so very happy, words can not explain! If you have curly hair, this is the stylist to see. She does well with straight hair too, my daughter got her dad's straight hair and she's very happy with the services Darlene has given her too. Darlene has us as new clients for life!

Will go back and take my friends and family: I live in concord NC and I have been looking for a good salon to go to for years and today was the day!!! I went in to get my hair cut short for the first time and was scared and Darlene made me feel so comfortable and relaxed. She talked me through the whole thing. I took in some pictures of some of the hair styles that I liked and she told me what would look good with my face shape and style. When she was finished with my hair I loved it!!!!!! I LOVE THIS PLACE!!!!!: I am a Senior at Mt. Pleasant High School. I have been having Darlene do my hair for about 2 years now. She's really good. A lot of my friends go to her now too. I've never heard anyone complain about her work. I'm hard to please. She's the first hairstylist that I've gone to more than once or twice. She does what I ask her to do and that's it. I want to go into cosmetology and she even said she'd help me any way she can. She's nice and my mom goes to her & she likes her too. I just got my highlights and lowlights done today & my hair looks so good I just have to go someplace tonight! I'm keeping DArlene as my stylist. I LOVE THIS PLACE!!!! Jennifer

OUTSTANDING: I LIVE IN FORSYTH CO WINSTON SALEM NC DARLENE HAS BEEN MY HAIRSTYLIST FOR SEVERAL YEARS. I FIRST STARTED WITH HER AT HER PREVIOUS SALON IN ARCHADLE NC. SINCE SHE HAS RELOCATED TO CONCORD I STILL LOVE HER WORK SO MUCH THAT I DRIVE APPROXIMATELY TWO HOURS FOR HER SERVICES. I HAVE NEVER BEEN DISAPPOINTED... I NOW JUST SIT DOWN AND SAY FIX ME I HAVE SO MUCH FAITH IN HER ABILITY TO MAKE ME LOOK BEAUTIFUL TRUST WOULD BE A BETTER WORD. I HAVE NEVER WALKED OUT FEELING LIKE IT WASN'T WORTH MY WHILE TO DRIVE THIS DISTANCE. SHE ALSO KEEPS UP ON ALL THE LASTEST STYLES AND PROCEDURES IN THE BEAUTY WORLD TWO THUMBS UP.

Excellent!!!!: Very happy with my end results. I had highlights after covering up my gray. I feel so much younger looking. My teenage son won't let anybody besides Darlene cut his hair. He wears it long and she won't cut too much. Now if she can find a formula to get hair back on hubby's head we'll all be happy! :-)

great hair cut and highlights: i got a great haircut here. it was even all over. the best was getting my color like i want it. hairdressers don't always understand how i want my hair but darleen got it perfect. and she got it in good condition again with some special stuff. it looks so cool. i get a lot of complements on it. my boyfriend loves it too. yes i'll be back
Best Cut & color I've gotten anywhere!: I'm particular about my hair and Darlene satisfied me to a tee! She's the best colorist I've found anywhere and I've had some top stylists all over the US do my hair! Quality work and takes pride in what she's doing. The salon is very comfortable. I'll be a regular from now on!
